UNLV has only two returning players and are hopeful that newcomer AJ Storr will be eligible when the season starts next month.
Nevada coach Steve Alford is retiring at the end of the upcoming season, ending a 36-year coaching career that also included stops at Iowa, New Mexico and UCLA. Alford is entering his eighth season at Nevada, where’s gone 137-88 with NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024.
Alford earned 13 NCAA tournament berths, five conference tournament titles and six regular-season championships coaching Missouri State, Iowa, New Mexico, UCLA and Nevada.
Even with the transfer portal, the Mountain West has several quality players returning in 2026-27.
